Break and enter at Wetaskiwin car dealership

RCMP Alberta – The RCMP in Wetaskiwin are searching for a male and female suspect following an early morning break and enter at the Legacy Dodge dealership.

At 3:30 a.m., Wetaskiwin RCMP members responded to a complaint at the dealership. A masked male was seen outside of the dealership, and a pick up truck with a female passenger was identified as involved. Circumstances resulted in the responding RCMP member discharging his firearm. The pick up truck fled the area.

A pursuit of the suspect truck was initiated by Maskwacis RCMP members, and later Ponoka RCMP members. The truck did not stop. The truck was later located abandoned and no occupants were located. It was determined that the truck was earlier stolen out of Nisku.

The RCMP Forensic Identification Section along with Leduc GIS is assisting in the break and enter investigation. There continues to be a police presence at the dealership while different agencies investigate.

ASIRT has taken carriage of the investigation in the discharge of the officer’s firearm. Given the involvement of ASIRT in this investigation, no further information will be provided by the RCMP.
