Brooks RCMP investigate serious assault

RCMP Alberta – The Brooks RCMP are investigating a serious assault which occurred just before 2:00 a.m. May 23. The assault caused one man to be transported to a Calgary hospital, with what were life threatening injuries.

The RCMP responded to a 911 call from a residence on Railway Avenue in Duchess. It was reported that two male suspects were attempting to steal a truck and when confronted by a bystander, assaulted the male. The two males then fled in a vehicle.   RCMP arrived to find a 32-year-old male victim in medical distress and suffering from life threatening injuries. He was transported to a Calgary hospital where he is now deemed to be in stable condition.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit, RCMP Forensic Identification Unit, Brooks RCMP General Investigation Section, and several Brooks RCMP members have been engaged in the investigation. Extensive patrols were made to try to locate the vehicle, but it was not located. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
