Edmonton Mayor Iveson Re-elected as Chair of Big City Mayors Caucus

City of Edmonton - Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson was officially confirmed as the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ (FCM) Big City Mayors Caucus Chair at their annual FCM meeting in Halifax. This honour marks the start of Mayor Iveson’s second time as Chair, extending his term to 2020.

"I am honoured by the re-appointment and will lead Canada's mayors in strengthening the partnership we have with the provincial and federal governments, reinforcing that city-building is nation-building," said Iveson. "Our collective efforts have resulted in breakthroughs on housing and infrastructure and, most importantly, a recognition from the federal government that cities play a critical role in the national landscape.”

The Mayor’s focus in this next term will be continued advocacy to the federal government especially as Election 2019 approaches.

FCM's Big City Mayors Caucus brings together representatives from 22 of Canada's biggest cities, offering a forum for policy development on a range of issues affecting our largest centres. Through FCM, the Big City Mayors Caucus partners with the federal government in nation-building through city-building.
