Grande Prairie RCMP Charge Male Following Assault with a Weapon

RCMP Alberta - On Monday, May 14, 2018 just before 1:00 PM, RCMP received a report of two males fighting in the downtown area. Police were attending a service at Revolution Place when one of the males crossed the street to get assistance. He was in possession of a firearm that he turned over to police. Investigation revealed that he had taken the gun from another male who had assaulted him with it. The suspect was quickly located and taken into custody without incident.  The victim suffered minor injuries.  The firearm was examined by police and determined to be an imitation hand-gun.

Joshua TANNER (39) of Grande Prairie has been charged with seven Criminal Code offences including:
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Fail to comply with conditions (x3)
  • Carry concealed weapon

TANNER's first appearance in Grande Prairie Provincial Court was scheduled for Wednesday, May 16, 2018.
