Search efforts on Athabasca River end in tragedy

RCMP Alberta – On the evening of May 16, 2018, the 17-year old male from Slave Lake that fell from the Highway 2 bridge into the Athabasca River was recovered. An autopsy was conducted at the Office of the Medical Examiner in Edmonton on May 17, 2018. There is no foul play suspected.

Slave Lake RCMP wish to extend their sincere condolences to the family and friends of the young man. The Slave Lake RCMP continues to support the family through this difficult time. His name will not be released.

Slave Lake RCMP would like to thank the Lesser Slave Lake Regional Fire Services and all the volunteers who assisted with the search and rescue efforts.
