Two Vehicle Motor Vehicle Collision in Cochrane Involving Empty School Bus

RCMP Alberta - On May 23 at approximately 9:00 a.m. the Cochrane RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision on 1st Avenue West at Centre Avenue in Cochrane. The initial investigation has determined that the westbound dodge Dakota truck, driven by an 84 year old male from Airdrie, proceeded through the intersection on a red light and struck a southbound school bus that was waiting to turn eastbound onto 1st Avenue. The school bus was empty of children and only had the driver on board, who was uninjured. The driver of the truck was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries. The names of the drivers will not be released. This collision remains under investigation.

The Cochrane RCMP would like to thank the independent witnesses that remained on scene and provided a witness statement.
