RCMP Alberta - On May 27, 2018 at approximately 2:54 a.m., Chestermere RCMP responded to a collision that occurred in the 200 block of Rainbow Falls Drive. Upon arrival a pickup truck was found lodged in the front of a residence. The lone occupant of the vehicle was arrested on scene for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The driver later provided breath samples at more than twice the legal limit. No injuries were reported despite the nature of the collision and damage caused to both the vehicle and home.
The driver, a 21 year old Chestermere man was later released and will appear in Strathmore Provincial Court to face charges of Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired, and Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Over the Legal Limit. Collisions such as this not only are preventable, but could result in serious injury or death. The Chestermere RCMP would like to remind the public to plan ahead and refrain from driving when consuming liquor.
Chestermere RCMP remains committed to road safety in our community and will continue to focus efforts on impaired, distracted, and aggressive drivers. Roving check stops and enhanced patrols will continue throughout the year in an effort to detect and deter drivers dangerous to the public. Chestermere RCMP would like to encourage motorists to continue reporting suspected impaired drivers by calling 911 when it's safe to do so with a license plate number, description of the vehicle and driver, and direction of travel.
