4 Joint Check Stop Safety Operation in St. Albert

RCMP Alberta - On May 28, 2018, the St. Albert RCMP Traffic Services Unit in partnership with Child Seat Safety Technicians from Alberta Health Services conducted an Option 4 Joint Check Stop Safety Operation. The Check Stop took place at the South East Entrance to the Smart Centres shopping area on Villeneuve Road and St. Albert Trail. Approximately 400 vehicles went through the Check Stop with 45 vehicles having Child Safety Seats (in-use) being checked by Alberta Health Services Safety Seat Technicians and RCMP Officers. 12 "Option 4" violation tickets were issued contrary to Section 82(1) of the Vehicle Equipment Regulations.

This Check Stop is the first of many similar events to take place this year to promote safety within the City of St. Albert and the Province of Alberta. The next scheduled 4 Joint Check Stop Safety Operation is June 15, 2018, from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm in the same location. "Keeping our children and youth safe is a priority at all times," says Cpl Tim Gaultois.

We would like to thank all the local businesses in the Smart Centres mall area and the general public for being so cooperative and receptive to the Check Stop initiative.
