Ralph McCall School patrollers and supervisors with Cst. Dan Martin |
On Thursday, June 7, 2018, the annual Calgary and Area AMA School Safety PatrolTM Year End Picnic was held at Heritage Park. This picnic is put on by the Alberta Motor Association and program sponsors to recognize and show appreciation for the hard work put into patrolling year after year by volunteer patrollers and supervisors.
This year was quite special as the program was celebrating 80 years within the province. In Calgary and area, 7609 students participated in the program this year, guided by 457 supervisors at 283 crosswalks.
One of the earliest Airdrie schools, in recent memory, to participate in the AMA School Safety PatrolTM program was R.J. Hawkey Elementary School. The program in Airdrie has grown significantly over the years and now includes 10 schools with nearly 260 patrollers amongst them.
The Airdrie RCMP want to thank our local patrollers for their leadership at the crosswalk and for everything they do to help keep our youth and motorists safe on a daily basis in Airdrie.
