RCMP Alberta – The investigation continues into a six vehicle collision near Camrose that claimed the life of one person.
On June 27, 2018 at approximately 6:00 p.m., Camrose RCMP were dispatched to a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 21 at Township Road 474. Six vehicles were involved in the crash that resulted in the death of a 16 year old female and injured several others.
Preliminary investigation suggests that three northbound vehicles had slowed for traffic ahead as vehicles in front had slowed to make a left turn. A northbound box truck collided with this line of traffic from behind. The resulting impact forced two middle vehicles in between the lead vehicle and the box truck and sent vehicles left of centre that were then struck by two south bound vehicles.
A 16 year old female passenger of one of the vehicles that had slowed for traffic ahead was pronounced dead on scene. The three other occupants of that vehicle were transported to area hospitals in serious condition.
All other vehicles had a lone occupant with four of those being treated for various non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation into the collision remains under investigation. No charges have been laid at this time.
