Happy ending for empty canoe story

RCMP Alberta - On July 20, 2018 at approximately 4:40 pm, Cochrane RCMP were called to the Bow River after receiving a report of an unattended canoe floating down river and were concerned about the person or persons who may have been capsized. Fire/Rescue, Fish and Wildlife and RCMP completed a thorough search of the area by boat while STARS conducted a search by air. After an exhaustive search of the area, emergency services were satisfied that no one was in distress in the immediate area and the search was called off.

The owner of the canoe has contacted RCMP after seeing ta previous news release and advised that he was thrown from his canoe due to the strong tide and he is currently home and safe.
