Strathcona RCMP make arrest and recover cash following bank robbery

RCMP Alberta – The Strathcona County RCMP have one male in custody following a bank robbery which occurred earlier today at a Scotiabank. Civilian witnesses were instrumental in the successful identification and arrest of the suspect.

At 10:56 a.m., Strathcona County RCMP responded to bank robbery that just occurred at the Scotiabank on Fir Street. A male suspect allegedly threatened to have a firearm, but did not display it. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the male suspect was reported fleeing the area on foot.

No one was injured during the incident.

Strathcona County RCMP members flooded the area and with the assistance of various civilian witnesses police were able to locate and arrest the male, without incident, approximately one block away. A search of the male led to the recovery of the undisclosed amount of money taken during the robbery.

One adult male from Edmonton is currently in custody and the investigation is continuing. No charges have been laid at this time.
