Athabasca RCMP charge male with multiple offences after vehicle reported stolen

RCMP Alberta - The Athabasca RCMP arrested one male suspect after responding to a report of a stolen vehicle from Fortis.

On Sunday August 26, 2018, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Athabasca RCMP were advised that a stolen vehicle from Fortis was on Highway 827 southeast of Athabasca. Upon arrival, RCMP observed the stolen vehicle and a second vehicle on the road.

Police activated their emergency equipment but both vehicles fled. The second vehicle that fled, hit the ditch and the suspect fled into the bush. Police Dog Services (PDS) and RCMP Air Services were called to assist. The male was located a short time later by PDS and arrested without incident. The Fortis vehicle was later located abandoned in Lac La Biche.

Juston Walter Boucher (26) from Lac La Biche was charged with 10 Criminal Code offences which include:

· Operation of a motor vehicle while pursued by police

· Driving while disqualified

· Possession of stolen property over $5000

· Unauthorized possession of a firearm

· Weapons possession contrary to order (x4)

· Theft and misuse of credit card (x2)

He was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Athabasca Provincial Court on September 4, 2018.
