Peace Regional RCMP Warn of Attempts to Pass Counterfeit Currency

RCMP Alberta - Between August 12 and August 14, 2018, Peace Regional RCMP responded to multiple reports of counterfeit American currency attempting to be passed at local businesses. In each of these instances, the currency appeared as $20 American bills, which, upon closer inspection, showed multiple obvious indicators of being counterfeit.

Passing counterfeit money is a crime. The R.C.M.P. reminds businesses and consumers to be diligent when accepting cash, in order to avoid becoming a victim of these types of crimes. If you unknowingly accept a counterfeit bill, you cannot be reimbursed.
