Saddle Lake man faces multiple charges after knife incident

RCMP Alberta - On the morning of Aug. 23, 2018, St. Paul RCMP responded to a residence in Saddle Lake as a result of a call for police assistance.

Police attended the residence and located a male who was wielding a knife in a violent manner. Following the confrontation with police, the armed male suspect quickly fled the residence on foot. No one was injured.

Members of the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU), St. Paul Police Dog Services (PDS) and Traffic Services quickly arrived to assist. The male was tracked through the woods and located and apprehended without further incident.

Landon McGilvery (18) of Saddle Lake was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

· Assault on a police officer with a weapon

· Assault with a weapon

· Failing to comply with a probation order

He was held in custody following a judicial hearing and will be appearing today in St. Paul Provincial Court.
