Police Vehicle Sideswiped During Traffic Stop on Hwy 1

RCMP Alberta – On September 3 at approximately 10:30 p.m. a member of the Cochrane RCMP detachment was eastbound on highway 1, just east of Highway 22 when he initiated a traffic stop. While the member was conducting his duties at the traffic stop, his police vehicle was sideswiped by an eastbound vehicle. The offending vehicle stopped approximately 50 meters further east on Highway 1. The officer was not injured and the police vehicle sustained minor damage. Neither the driver nor the vehicle that the officer was stopped with, sustained any injuries or damage.

Lorna Shackelly (55) of Calgary has been charged with Impaired Driving of a Motor Vehicle and with Driving a Motor Vehicle with a blood alcohol level over .08 and with Driving an Uninsured Motor Vehicle on a highway. Shackelly was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Cochrane Court on October 16, 2018.
