Wood Buffalo RCMP search for missing boy in a lake – Update 3

RCMP Alberta - Search efforts continue in Gregoire Lake for the 16 year old boy who went missing on September 1, 2018.

Members of the Gregoire Lake Reserve, Fort McMurray 468 First Nation, have contacted Compass Geomatics Ltd, who have attended from Red Deer, Alberta to assist in the search. This team is using special equipment on their boat, and although snowing yesterday, they were out on the water, analyzing the results on their equipment and marking their maps. They are working tirelessly in the colder weather to help locate the boy. Today, they have transferred their equipment and will be teaming up with Anzac Fire Department in their boat.

The Western Cadaver Dog Association team from southern Alberta has provided their identified areas of interest to the RCMP and to Compass Geomatics Ltd. Their efforts are greatly appreciated by family and RCMP. These volunteers have departed back to Calgary, Alberta.

Although difficult, all agencies and volunteers continue to work tirelessly in their search efforts. The RCMP would like to thank the community for their continued support to the family and to the search teams. Our thoughts remain with the boy’s family.

Boat patrols will continue throughout the week.

Further updates will be provided when more information is available.
